- 소개/요약Planting Seeds of Understanding and Compassion The cover illustration for Planting Seeds: Practicing Mindfulness with Children shows a boy and a girl planting and watering seeds in a garden, a theme that carries throughout the book, as these are the seeds of compassion. The book contains many short stories, games and activities to illustrate the benefits in practicing what is called mindfulness in the Buddhist tradition: conscious awareness of your self and your breath leading to feeling compassion for one's self and others. The many exercises, games and recipes described for integrating this practice and awareness into youth activities include one involving children putting colored sand in a glass of water to have the pleasure of watching it quietly, slowly settle to the bottom of the glass, a lovely metaphor for the mindfulness process that leaves one feeling clear and quiet.
