- 소개/요약We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:00 pm and Saturday mornings from 8:00-9:30 am in the Saranac meditation room, 25 W Main, Spokane. Our schedule consists of 25-minute sitting periods (two on Wednesdays, three on Saturdays), 5-minute walking meditation (kinhin) periods (one on Wednesdays, two on Saturdays), and a short sutra recital. Sitting Meditation (zazen)Our weekly zazen(group sitting) consists primarily of silent, seated meditation. Excellent basic instructions for sitting (and walking) meditation, using awareness of the breath as a method, can be found here, from Dharma Drum Retreat Center. Walking Meditation (kinhin)We sit in 25-minute periods, interspersed with 5-minute walking meditation periods. In walking meditation, rather than using our breath as the focal point of our awareness, we place our attention at our feet as they touch the ground as we walk. We place our left palm around our right fist in front of, but not touching, our abdomen as we walk.Orientation to Zen practice is offered prior to meditation practice, by arrangement (our meditation hall is in a building that is locked to protect the tenants from theft). Once you come to a session, we can give you the number to get into the building yourself.
