- 소개/요약The Imagery Breathing Technique (IBT) is a brief relaxation technique which takes only a couple of minutes to do. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the effects of IBT and two psychological works(“small works”), i.e., reading-sentences (RS) and tracing-letters (TL). The Temporary Mood Scale (TMS), which can measure six kinds of moods, was used to investigate the influences of IBT and “small works” on mood changes. IBT was performed by 28 subjects, RS was performed by 28 subjects, and TL was performed by 27 subjects. IBT and “small works” were all done for two minutes. Each subject was instructed to answer TMS before and after IBT and “small works”. The results were as follows: (1)Although RS and TL influenced only a few kinds of moods, IBT had a tendency to improve all kinds of moods, i.e., tension, depression, anger, confusion, fatigue, and vigor. (2)RS had a tendency to soften tension, to intensify confusion, and to weaken vigor. TL had a tendency to soften tension and depression. These results were discussed from the viewpoint of mindfulness toward bodily experiences.
