- 소개/요약The presence of certain emotions plays a significant role in individuals experiencing empathy. Loving-kindness meditation (LKM) has been shown to enhance an individual's ability toexperience and display empathy. The use of music paired with loving-kindness meditation has not been explored. This study aimed to explore the effects of pairing emotionally-evocativemusic with LKM as a way of amplifying empathic responses. The aim was to explore if musical accompaniment helped to promote mood-congruent cognition as a way of helping participantsaccess more thoughts and memories related to LKM, therefore improving empathy outcomes. The study also explored differences between males and females in empathy outcomes overall. In this experiment, 37 participants were assigned to one of two groups and practiced a 10-minute recorded LKM either with or without musical accompaniment for five days. The group withmusical accompaniment had 14 females and 4 males and the average age of participants was 42.9. The group without musical accompaniment had 10 females and 9 males with 31.8 being the average age of participants.
