- 소개/요약In the last years, secularized versions of Buddhist contemplative practices have become increasingly common in our society due to their putative health benefits. An important part of these practices consist of directing the attentional focus to a specific object (e.g. the sensation of breathing) while ‘noticing’ and ‘letting pass’ self-generated thoughts (i.e. mind-wandering episodes) (Anālayo, 2019; Delorme & Brandmeyer, 2019; Hanh, 1990; Krishnamurti, 2002). In this type of meditation practice (i.e. ‘focused attention meditation’; see Lutz et al., 2015) periods of focused attention to the object of meditation are alternated with the occurrence of mind wandering episodes involving memories, future plans and fantasies (Schooler et al., 2014; Smallwood & Schooler, 2015).
