- 소개/요약Mindfulness meditation is a technique that can improve an individual’s physical health, mental health, and cognitive functioning when practiced regularly. This chapter provides a brief overview of mindfulness meditation based on mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT). The rest of the chapter is divided into sections that discuss the benefits of practicing mindfulness for physical health, mental health, and cognitive functioning along with enhanced performance and wellness promotion. Evidence from research studies and clinical experiences will be provided in support of mindfulness meditation in all of these areas. The last section will discuss some of the well-known meditations used to promote mindfulness in everyday life. Please note that mental health disorders can overlap with physical symptoms, physical symptoms or disorders can trigger anxiety and/or depression, and cognitive issues and stress can be seen alone or in combination with any other aspects of health. These areas of health are not silos but rather intertwined aspects of the individual. It is essential for the provider to recognize the overlap for whole health promotion. Lastly, practicing mindfulness is strongly encouraged for the provider, not only for your personal benefit but also for the professional benefit of your clients.
