- 소개/요약Instead of, 'the complex sign "aRb" says that a stands to b in the relation R ', we ought to put, "That 'a'stands to 'b 'in a certain relation says that aRb."' (Wittgenstein 1961 [section]3.1432) In a strange way this paper begins with its ending. I recently read Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. It felt like a challenge, and I had never attempted it before. It is a formidably difficult text to understand, let alone criticise. It feels as if you need the weight of all philosophy to understand and engage with the text. But, momentarily, as I read [section]3.1432, maybe for the second or third time, something changed. A penny dropped. I felt that I achieved a moment of understanding, that something opened up for me or, as Wittgenstein also describes, some aspect that I noticed (Wittgenstein, 2009: [section]x-113) changed for me and I was able to see something, previously fixedly opaque, now as something fluid and full of meaning and possibility.
