  • 소개/요약Mindfulness has shown efficacy for the treatment of chronic pain, reductions in clinical anxiety and depression, and improvements in overall quality of life. In sports, mindfulness interventions with elite adult athletes have improved performance anxiety, injury recovery time, confidence, and sleep with potential for performance enhancement. Positive results with mindfulness in the middle school setting suggest that adolescent athletes could similarly benefit from training through promotion of coping skills, improved self-esteem, and formation of healthy social relationships. This research evaluated a novel curriculum called Mindfulness Training for Volleyball-Adolescents (MTV-A), modeled after evidence-based literature with goals of: 1) increasing mindfulness; 2) decreasing anxiety; 3) increasing confidence; and 4) improving sport performance. It was hypothesized that MTV-A is feasible and efficacious for adolescent volleyball athletes.
