  • 소개/요약This study conducted to analyze effects of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction(MBSR) program on breast cancer survivors in Korea. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pre-post test design. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of MBSR on the depression, experience of symptoms, blood pressure, salivary cortisol(s-cortisol) and salivary immunoglobulin A (s-IgA) in Korean breast cancer survivors. We used the modified MBSR program as a nursing intervention program for breast cancer survivors and analyzed the effects of MBSR on depression, symptom experience, blood pressure, s-cortisol, and s-lgA. Results of this study showed that the MBSR program decreased depression, the blood pressure, the symptom experience, and salivary Cortisol on the breast cancer patients. Significant differences was not found in s-IgA level. Therefore, we suggest that it is necessary to conduct research for a long time of about one year because the period for influencing immunity, and natural killer cells and immunocytochemistry should be used to measure variables that directly affect cancer.
